Intent to apply requested in advance of submission of final application
Final application due April 11, 2008 (postmark)
McKnight Theater Artist Fellowships of $25,000
each are awarded to Minnesota theater artists, recognizing
outstanding work by professional artists whose skill and talent
contribute
to
theatrical productions. In addition, these awards are designed
to acknowledge a body of work in theater arts over a period of
years. Support of individual artists has been a cornerstone of The
McKnight Foundation’s Arts program since it began in 1981. A fellowship can
help an artist set aside periods of time for study, reflection,
experimentation and exploration; take advantage of an opportunity;
or work on a new project.
Selection Process
Applications are screened for eligibility by The Playwrights’ Center and
evaluated by a select panel of Minnesota theater artists. Those recommended for
finalist status are evaluated by a diverse panel of national theater artists.
Selection is guided by The Playwrights’ Center’s Selection Code of Ethics and is based on
a commitment to theater arts, evidence of professional achievements, and a sustained level
of excellence in the applicant’s work. The panel will also consider the degree to which this
fellowship at this time will be of significant value to the artist. The panel’s decision is final. The Playwrights’ Center staff does not participate in award decisions.
