Most people don’t think much about where theater begins. But
that question is at the heart of everything we do here at The Playwrights’ Center.
All our programs and services are geared toward playwrights, emerging
and working.
The Playwrights’ Center has evolved over three decades to become one
of the nation’s most revered incubators of new theater. The Playwrights’ Center
has risen to a leadership role of national prominence, matched
only by a small handful of other prestigious institutions.
Because the Center is dedicated to serving writers at all levels
of experience, we have several types of membership. General
Membership is open to individuals interested in pursuing the
craft of playwriting. Through a selective application process, Core
Membership is available to accomplished writers
who are dedicated to playwriting as their primary career. New
Plays on Campus is an institutional membership program designed to put
the best new plays in America into the hands of
college and university theaters and connects today’s students
and faculty with living playwrights.
