"Any self-respecting playwright [should be involved with] The Playwrights' Center."
--Edward Albee

What do Kira Obolensky, Allison Moore, Vince Delaney, Melanie Marnich and other working playwrights all have in common? They've been supported by the Playwrights' Center since the very beginning of their careers - some even before they wrote their first play!

Membership is the primary way to access Center services, including our well-established Writer’s Opportunities, e-Bulletin, event calendar to promote your work, the Piazza resource area, and your own personalized profile page. And we update our technology regularly to stay on the cutting edge. Membership at the Playwrights' Center is the most vital thing you can do for yourself as a playwright.

We understand that many submission opportunities are posted widely around the internet, but what other sites don't have is a full-time staff person working for you. That means that our site has the most comprehensive and current list of opportunities. Our pages are easy to view and search, so each time you log in, you can find the specific items that interest you.

We often implement member ideas and feedback to make certain our benefits are the best! Click for full details of membership benefits.

We have two types of membership:

General Membership ($50 annually)
general member benefits  |  membership application form
General Membership is available to anyone. Because our members are all over the country, most of our member benefits are online. The members-only area is the primary way to access Center services, including creating your own page (with an external link) that includes your bio, picture and script descriptions and samples. Members can also access over 200 easily searchable Writer’s Opportunities, the new Piazza resource area, and regular columns and interviews with playwrights and literary managers. Click for full details of membership benefits.

New Plays on Campus ($275 for up to 7 individuals, $20/additional person)
New Plays on Campus benefits  |  New Plays on Campus application form
Colleges and universities can obtain membership for their departments and students at a special rate. Institutional membership includes all of the regular general member benefits plus script matching services connecting theater departments with new plays by Center writers for production in their season, and much more. New Plays on Campus members also have the opportunity to nominate students to the fully-funded Core Apprentice program. For more information about the New Plays on Campus program, please contact Anna Peterson, Membership Manager and Literary Associate at annap@pwcenter.org or 612-332-7481 x23.

Thanks for your interest in The Playwrights' Center.
