WHAT IS NEW PLAYS ON CAMPUS?
New Plays on Campus is an institutional membership program of The Playwrights’ Center that puts the best new plays in America into the hands of college and university theaters and connects today’s students and faculty with living playwrights and the professional playwriting world..

WHAT IT OFFERS
For an annual enrollment fee of $275, institutions receive:
• The Playwrights’ Center’s peerless custom script-matching services, plus
• individual General Memberships for up to 6 students and faculty members, with full General Membership benefits
• Priority access to Playwrights’ Center internships and mentorships

HOW IT WORKS
Want to produce a contemporary play? Commission a new piece? Expose your students and staff to the craft of playmaking? Enroll in New Plays on Campus and tap The Playwrights’ Center’s vast nationwide network of playwrights and information. The Playwrights’ Center will send scripts, five at-a-time, that answer to member institutions’ particular needs. Got a one-act festival coming up? Let The Playwrights’ Center be your “literary manager at large.” We’ll narrow the pool to meet your requirements, then you select the play or playwright in ongoing consultation with us. Scripts are drawn from the Center’s high-caliber Core Members, Fellows and PlayLabs Artists (current and former), assuring a professional commitment to excellence.

WHY WE DO IT
The Playwrights’ Center fuels the theater by providing services that support playwrights and playwriting. New Plays on Campus serves that mission by matching writers with development and production opportunities in a safe, educational, college theater environment … and in turn, exposes theater artists in training to the world of new play development.

Who is enrolled?

...and many other institutions from coast to coast.

HOW TO ENROLL
It’s simple. Download information and application here.

WHAT DOES IT COST?
$275 annual enrollment fee for a faculty contact person and up to 6 student/colleague members. Additional participants may be added at a cost of $20 per participant per year. On-campus residencies, commissions and master class rates are determined by the playwright and the institution after a match is made.

NEW PROGRAMS FOR STUDENT PLAYWRIGHTS

Current Mentor-Mentees:

  • Mentor Vincent Delaney w/ Mentee UC Santa Barbara/ Northwestern University MFA Student Zach Hart

  • Mentor Dominic Orlando w/ Mentee KCACTF Sponsored MFA Student Terry Davis

  • Mentor Deborah Stein w/ Mentee University of New Mexico MFA Student Lou Clark

Tailormade Internships: Individually customized internships are available on a year round, ongoing basis to NPoC members! If you're motivated, interested, responsible and capable, we're pleased to help you make the best of your education by giving you access to the play development experiences going on here at the Center everyday. This type of internship can last for a weekend, a week, a month or for however long the student would like to participate. It can even happen long distance! E-mail Steve Moulds at stevem@pwcenter.org for more details.
