Festival of New Writing

The Festival of New Writing, “The Plan,” will take place on Tuesday 25 June and Wednesday 26 June at the Drayton Arms Theatre. This year we’re asking for submissions with the same opening line: “It’s not like we planned it.” Each winning play will be performed as a rehearsed reading, with directors and actors drawn from a company created for the festival. Plays should be limited to a maximum of 8 minutes (6-7 pages) but you can submit as many scripts as you like. Write for at least 2 characters and a maximum of 8 characters (doubling up is possible).

Gather by the Ghost Light (Augusta | GA)

Stage Frights Submission Call

Gather by the Ghost Light will be doing a live recording of 20 pages or less horror audio plays in Augusta, GA! And we want you to submit your scripts! Multiple submissions are okay. We want scripts that allow for immersive sound fx - chainsaws, monsters snarling, jump scares, gore, haunting ghosts, etc. Creepy dialogue is fun and all but we have a foley guy. Make us use him. Selected plays will be performed on October 12 at Le Chat Noir Theatre in front of a live audience and later released on the Gather by the Ghost Light podcast. Selected playwrights will each receive $50 and publication in the Year Five Gather by the Ghost Light companion book.

Oswego Players (Oswego | NY)

Don McCann Playwriting Contest

Oswego Players is a non-profit community theater organization dedicated to live theater productions and theater education for Oswego area residents. Consistent with those goals, a playwriting contest was established to promote the creation of original, one-act plays by contemporary authors. All plays must be based on original concepts, unpublished and unproduced. None of the submitted plays may be read publicly until the prize winners have been announced. A live production of at least one of the prize winners is planned. 1st Prize: $250. 2nd Prize: $150. 3rd Prize: $75.
