Biography

Christopher Cartwright is a playwright and librettist in Minneapolis, MN. His plays have been performed around the world at numerous schools, theaters, and festivals. His best-selling play Awaiting Patients was published in 2016, and has since been performed across the United States, Canada, South Africa, India, Australia, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, and Kenya, earning numerous accolades. His 10-minute play Barfly was selected as a semi-finalist at the MN Shorts Festival in Mankato, and has since been published and produced. He also produced and premiered his one-act comedy Sock Hops, Recorders, and Owl Pellets: Tips on Surviving the 4th Grade at the Rarig Center as part of the 2016 Minnesota Fringe Festival, where it went on to average a 5-star rating throughout its run. The original production also went on to perform a mini tour across South Dakota. As a librettist, Christopher collaborated with award-winning composer Noah Bray to write a brand new short opera called Square One, which was workshopped and presented in 2019 by the Concordia Opera under the musical direction of Stephen Sulich. His latest play Art School was selected as a finalist and premiered at the 2022 MN Shorts Play Festival.

Aside from writing, Christopher works for the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation on their marketing team after previously serving as the Marketing Manager for Theater Latté Da in Minneapolis. He also volunteers as a host and producer for KFAI Fresh Air Community Radio in the Twin Cities.

My one-minute play Art School was selected as a finalist and will be performed at the MN Shorts Play Festival in Mankato, September 2022.
