Biography

Scott Adkins is a playwright with an MFA from Brooklyn College, ‘06. His most recent play is Lakeview Terrace. He developed his play Running Commentary No. 4 in the 2006 SoHo Rep Writer/Director Lab which was later produced at Five Myles by JOYCE CHO. His play TupuTupuTupu was performed at La MaMa downstairs in 2017 with an afternoon of work by his JOYCE CHO cohorts. His play The Kioskers was performed in the 2016 St. Ann's Warehouse Labapalooza and also received a DEEP Space Performance residency in September of 2015 at NACL. His plays are epic lyrical experiments that often include music and have been rendered in various ways around and under New York. PAJ: A Journal of Performance and Art published his play The Anti-Gardener in PAJ 98 - May 2011. 53rd State Press included Running Commentary No. 4 in the JOYCE CHO Anthology, published 2008. He co-produced the Folk Play Project 2012 & 2013, a 24-hour play project hosted at the Brooklyn Arts Exchange. He co-produced the Tom Murrin Full Moon Performance Festival in 2014 at La Mama. He is a 2016 MacDowell Colony Fellow. Currently he is on the Fellow’s Executive Committee for the MacDowell Colony. He has been a playwriting instructor at SUNY Purchase. He is a co-founder of the Brooklyn Writers Space and Sock Monkey Press.
