It’s 1972  in rural Virginia where a multi-generational, dysfunctional family must contend with each other during the changing times and challenging situations that ensue with Interstate 81 becoming an intrusive presence in their lives.  Emily strives to modernize the family’s general store though she’s at odds with her Pa, who’s stuck in his old ways.  Pa’s grief-infused- reminiscences of his late wife, their young love, love of nature and music seem to be compounded by the Interstate’s distractions.  Emily holds secrets and heartaches, but wants her only son Andy to have a post secondary education, so he can leave to have a more fulfilling life, but when the secrets come out, disagreements commence and tragedy strikes the family.  In the aftermath, the family must re-establish their relationships, deal with their generational and educational differences, adjust to losses, and welcome the new family dynamic that includes Andrew, Andy’s long haul trucker father who returns to reinstate himself in his son’s life, plan a life with Emily, and reconcile with Pa, whose own challenge to find peaceful, heartfelt connections to the memories of his late wife through their love of nature and music, intersects with his acceptance of Interstate 81.

Cast:

ANDREW: Andy’s Dad, 38, who is a rugged, self-assured trucker, but not coarse or crude
