Biography

After retirement, Barbara began to walk, draw and write full time. Her short stories were published in several literary journals. In 2015, her book on long-distance walking, “Letters from the Way”, was published. More than a dozen short plays have been produced by the Pear Theatre, Dragon Theatre, the Piedmont Arts Council and in New York City, Detroit and London. During the pandemic her short play “Decade by Decade” was filmed with success both in NYC and Toronto. Flash Fiction stories have been presented in San Jose. “Fugitive Colors” was a finalist in Ashland and produced as part of NYC’s Gallery Players 2022 season. During the pandemic she developed a youtube channel barbaraanderson.org of Zoom plays. “Life Under the Prairie” won best director, best writer, best stage set, and best Zoom play in Manhattan. She has just completed the family-friendly “The Pond Trilogy” and is hoping to find a home for this fun, family friendly play.
