Biography

Caitlyn Waltermire is a playwright from Lexington, Kentucky. In 2017, her first show, 1970s psychiatric ward musical One More Fine Day, won “Outstanding Ensemble” in Midtown Int'l Theatre Festival. Subsequent plays have been produced in NYC, TX, KY, NC, WV, OH, and CO. What Am I Supposed To Do, Knowing You’re In The World? won “Judges’ Pick” at Seat Of Our Pants’ Short Play Festival, judges including Tony-Award winner Cady Huffman.

In 2023, a portion of her second musical Aim For The Brain!! premiered at the CO New Musical Festival and Come Here, Baby Boy was featured in Seat of Our Pants’ Theatre’s Short Play Festival. West Virginia's state theatre, Greenbrier Valley Theatre, showcased Come Here, Baby Boy in Voices of Appalachia Festival in February 2024. Oh The Generosity of the Heart, a short play about author Patricia Highsmith, was published in Masque and Spectacle Arts & Literary Journal this March.

Caitlyn is a member of the Dramatists Guild.

Successes

Dreary, Dearie was accepted into Cincy Fringe Festival. (July 2019)

Full-length drama Little Bites premiered at Leeds Center for the Arts for 3-weekend run. (June 2018)

Radio drama The Holiday Special premiered alongside new works by NYT best-selling author Silas House and former KY poet-laureate Frank X Walker (AthensWest Theatre Company and WUKY’s Last Minute Gifts). (Dec. 2020)
