Biography

Jon is the author of over thirty plays, performed Off-Broadway and at many regional theatres, including Actors Theatre of Louisville, Arena Stage, Woolly Mammoth, South Coast Rep, Alliance Theatre, Center Stage, Alley Theatre, Roundhouse Theatre and Seattle Children’s Theatre.  He is perhaps best known for his two plays T Bone N Weasel and Betty The Yeti.  The frequently produced adaptation of Bunnicula is an ongoing favorite of theatres for young audiences. Dimly Percieved Threats To The System was a finalist for the American Critics Theatre Award. His latest play, Young Robin Hood, recently opened to great acclaim at Roundhouse Theatre in Bethesda, Maryland. Jon adapted T Bone N Weasel for a Turner Network film, starring Gregory Hines and Christopher Lloyd.  He has been a Playwright-in-Residence at the American Repertory Theatre in Boston and the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta.  Jon has also received the HBO Playwrights USA award for T Bone N Weasel, the CBS New Play Award for Losing It, three National Endowment of the Arts Fellowships, McKnight and Jerome Fellowships, and an Alfred P. Sloan grant.  He is currently the head of the MFA Playwriting Program at Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.  He has also taught playwriting and screenwriting at UCLA, the University of Texas, the University of Washington, Ohio University, and Hollins University. 

Successes

Jon Klein's play, RESOLVING HEDDA, will be produced at the Victory Theatre in Los Angeles, opening Sept 29.
