Biography

Julie Coles' writing includes the play Skirt, the chamber opera Mercy Train, and the screenplay Program Rose. Her work has been developed or presented by the Playwrights' Center, Microscopic Opera Company, and National Public Radio, among others. She has been an artist in residence at Virginia Center for the Artts, a Core Apprentice at the Playwrights' Center, a Walter E. Dakin Playwriting Fellow at the Sewanee Writers' Conference, and won a Djerassi Fellowship through San Francisco Film Society. Coles is an alumnus of the Playwrights Union of LA and a member of the Society of Authors in the UK. Her plays for children are published by Concord Theatricals. Coles earned her MFA in Dramatic Writing at Carnegie Mellon University. She lives and writes in Scotland.
