Bryson numbs the pain from the loss of his wife, Jen, by burying himself in his big corporate job in Nashville. When Jen's sister and her husband die suddenly in an accident, Bryson discovers their will still lists him as co-guardian of their 12 year-old daughter, Maddie, a farm-girl who is wise beyond her years but still has the needs of a child. Eggs In No Basket explores what family should look like for a minor who loses their parents suddenly.

Cast:
MADDIE, 12 year-old farm girl whose parents died in a tragic accident. Wise beyond her years from lessons on the farm but still has all the needs of a child. BRYSON, widower in his 40s, shut off from the world outside of his job. Maddie’s uncle via marriage and listed as guardian in the will. ALEXIS, Maddie’s 18 year-old sister. Though at legal age to be Maddie’s guardian, the will was never changed. Loves Maddie dearly while also smitten with her new boyfriend. HARLEY, Alexis’ heart throb, a 20 year-old know-it-all college boy who does what he needs to ensure his own good time. MRS. WARBURG, 50s, state adoption worker in the role of recommending who is ideal to take custody of Maddie which in her mind is a traditional, nuclear Christian family. LEONARD, 30s, Bryson’s work team member, afraid to make a move on his own at the office. JAMARIUS (aka ‘J’), 30s, African-American, insightful package delivery driver/lay preacher. Lives every day as a ray of sunshine with Jesus as his light. *Leonard and Jamarius can be played by one person
