Biography

Timothy David Rey is a Chicago-based playwright. He is a 2023 Semi-Finalist for the Eugene O'Neill National Playwright Conference for his play, Zip!, and is a current two-time recipient of the Changing Worlds/ Artwork Fund 'Survive and Thrive Grant', for his ongoing work, The Monologue Play. Rey is a 2022 Lambda Literary Playwright Fellow for Emerging LGBT+ voices. His play, White House was a finalist for the ETA Creative Arts Foundation’s 2020, New Play Initiative. Other plays produced include The (Almost) Last Picture Show, For Every Ring There is a Season (a telephone play), and Gloria.

His work has been published and performed at the Poetry Foundation, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Black Horse Review, Obsidian (forthcoming), Sixty Inches from Center, Steppenwolf Theater, and Emerge! The 2022 Lambda Literary Anthology of LGBTQ+ and elsewhere. His book of poetry and performance, Little Victories, was published in 2012 by the LGBT imprint, New Town Writers Press.
